Partnering with one of the oldest institutions in sports, our team at Levatas worked with PGA of America to explore nearly a dozen digital transformation projects or proposals to help them innovate for the next century.

From conducting user interviews and journey mapping, creating a unified membership platform, designing a new website and digital style sheet, to ideating on multiple applications for players, trainers, coaches and administrators — the long running project touched nearly every corner of the PGA to help guide user experience and digital transformation efforts.

From conducting user interviews and journey mapping, creating a unified membership platform, designing a new website and digital style sheet, to ideating on multiple applications for players, trainers, coaches and administrators — the long running project touched nearly every corner of the PGA to help guide user experience and digital transformation efforts.

Final project outputs included journey maps, system diagrams, member platform UI, a website design, CRM data dashboards, a course-specific app experience, and app UI for players, trainers, and coaches.

Our team started with thorough user interviews to understand and improve on the process of becoming a member of PGA of America. After dozens of conversations with students, members, administrators, and university faculty and staff, our team laid out a process and ID’ed pain points that had never been fully visualized or well understood. This became the backbone for a new platform to attract and onboard the newest members to the PGA.

Our team laid out three core persona’s: university students taking a degree in golf, apprentices who become members while they work, and the PGA administrators that help usher both along. When our team we done, we ID’ed more than 100 steps and dozens of pain points.

Membership: Wireframe Solutions

With pain points identified, a core solution became creating a smarter, fully digital online dashboard to help guide the various persona’s through the vigorous process of becoming a PGA member.

Our UI needed to quickly capture and represent data from several systems and create clear CTA’s for users that have tight deadlines, playing tests, and documentation to study. For the Student and Apprentice persona’s, we worked closely with actual users to iron out what important information was too hard to find, and what opportunities could be surfaced to make the experience even richer.

More interviews, more iterations. Easy to update wireframes and thoughtful conversations helped our team iterate with users until we found the right balance of information for each user type.

After defining the styles and experience for the platform, our team began working with the PGA of America internal designers and devs to begin rebuilding pages and styles on PGA.org, including their jobs board, course finder, and member services pages.

In the student journey, a user can complete a thorough profile, identify their level and the skills they want to work on, and be matched with local coaches for lessons, practices, and more — with all their progress easily tracked to see their progress.

In the coach journey, a user can recieve requests, view a golfer’s profile, and manage lessons, feedback, and payments all in app — in addition to getting updates of their student’s progress, and the ability to find upcoming events that fit their students level and progress.
